Christa

Hi! I'm Christa.

It's always  . . . oh my gosh! A spider! It's a spider you guys! I'm sitting here trying to write about myself, which is always a daunting task because really, who cares, and a spider is literally descending from my ceiling right now! No, wait, now it's ascending. Crap. The thing is like a rope climber on methamphetamines. Down. Up. Down. Up.

I'm frozen. Except for my fingers - they're still typing. What else can you do when a ginormous spider suddenly descends and ascends right in front of your face in your own house??!!? You have to be able to call for help somehow, and if your fingers are all that will work, you go with it. This is my safe place! Get out of my house, you little arachnophobia-inducing terrorist!

Okay. Okay. Deep breaths. I think I'm okay. It's hanging out two inches from the ceiling now, which is about six feet away from me. I can deal with that.

This is my life folks: random bursts of insight interrupted by moments of panic and/or hilarity.

It's the same for all of us - we never know from one moment to the next what might pop up in front of us, and ready or not, we're going to have to deal with it.

We can deal with it. By the grace of God and His amazing, mighty power at work within us, we have everything we need to live this life abundantly (2 Peter 1:3). We can deal with it.

And we don't have to deal with it alone; that's what this blog is all about. God has designed us to live intentionally in community with others as one body of Christ (Romans 12:5-15). We need each other. We help each other grow. We help each other fight. We help each other celebrate. We help each other mourn. We can be each other's safe place. We can be a chord not easily broken (Ecclesiates 4:12).

Let's find each other. Let's find our tribes. Let's ask God to help us find those beautiful women who love us in our crazy yet encourage us to grow in the potential God sees in us.

This life is a race, but it's not a competition. Let's find the people we can run alongside. There shouldn't be winners and losers.

If one loses, it's a loss for all of us.

-------

So let's try that again.

Hi! I'm Christa, a thirty-odd-something lover of Jesus, wife of a handsome hunk of a man, mom to two great kids who are growing up WAY TOO FAST, owner of a graphic design business specializing in promotions and web design. Homeschooler. Bicycle rider. Gardener. Lover of all the words.

But none of that brings me here, to this blog.

What brings me here is that I'm part of a fierce tribe of warrior women. It has changed my life. It has shown me in so many ways how God intended for us to live in unity together with our fellow spiritual family. It's not perfect. We're all a little crazy. But it's full of grace and love.

Welcome to the Nearly Naked Life.
